they can get a tax deduction for unpaid ads/airtime which they couldn’t get if they let Beck ramble on for an extra 2 minutes. it can be written off as a loss so it’s in the station’s interest to do “charitable” or unpaid advertising with unsold commercial spots.

Check your local PSA ads. They do not know their ads on Glenn Beck, they can choose the network, but not the show. I called one yesterday and they were shocked.

Why would they run unpaid ads instead of just running shorter/fewer commercial breaks?
