One Thing is Certain - Glenn Beck Isn't Crying Because of the Poor's Plight

Tomorrow, Glenn Beck will be taping his Christmas special at NYU (Skirball Center) at 8PM. In this show, Glenn Beck promises to offer redemption and his take on true meaning of Christmas.

In light of this, I am compelled to underscore two recent despicable statements by Glenn Beck about the poor.

From his November 24, 2009 daily newsletter – two days before Thanksgiving, Glenn Beck had this advice for his fans (emphasis added):

“Can you spare some change?  Have you ever been asked this by some random panhandler? A good response is ‘Sorry, I only carry hundreds.’ It gets em every time.”

So, Glenn Beck amuses himself by telling truly poor people that he can’t help them because he’s got too much money? Worse, he’s urging his fans share in his contempt for the poor by emulating this conduct.

Glenn Beck further revealed his contempt for the poor in his December 1, 2009 newsletter, writing about a potential war tax (emphasis added):

“If anyone doesn’t know what shared sacrifice means, it’s the poor because they are never asked to pay for anything”

So for Glenn Beck, the holiday spirit crossed with redemption means expressing contempt for the poor.
