Help Glenn Beck Buy A Mercedes!
This week, Glenn Beck boasted about his new car – a “death-proof” Mercedes. It immediately made me think of the time a few years ago when Glenn Beck asked all of his fans to send him money, so he could buy a new car.
Now, keep in mind, this is from the same guy that apparently gets a real laugh out of mocking homeless people who ask him for money. In June 2003, Glenn Beck launched a “new car fund,” which he asked his fans to fill for him. Mind you, this is real – not a joke. From his website:
“Now is your chance to real [sic] make a difference in someone’s life” … by giving money to someone with more money than you, so he can buy a new car.

Fox News is paying him $18 million a year to spew BS and he can’t even afford a Mercedes? I haven’t even paid off my Chevrolet and he can certainly afford to pay for a Mercedes cash. Somebody should buy him a new radio for his car and rig it so that it keeps playing Kim Wilde’s 80s hit “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” over and over.

I have come to the conclusion that in order to be a good Republican, you must be a good hypocrite. And Glenn Beck just really excels as one of the best hypocrites ever known to mankind. He is in good company with Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin. They should start the “Hypocrite Party”… there are many hypocrites in the country that would vote for them. For example, the so-called Christians that would rather fund war than health care.

You would think someone as nationalistic and patriotic as Beck would drive an American car. Shouldn’t his drones be giving him hell for buying a German car? Germany, which has a “State Mandatory Health System”….or as Beck would say, a “Socialist” country. So he is a free-market capitalist who buys Socialist cars. I’m sure they turn a blind eye to that.

Are you sure it’s not a joke? It looks like a joke to me, and Beck has said in interviews that he considers himself a little bit of a comedian. I mean, it seems to scream satire. I’m not saying I’m certain a guy like Beck isn’t stupid enough to put something like this up in a serious way, but it seems more likely that he’s poking fun at donation pages on miscellaneous personal websites.

The one-dollar donation thing makes it seem tongue in cheek… without actually being tongue in cheek, because, unless that was set up completely fake, it’s actually going to buy a millionaire a luxury car.
There’s only one word for it: untruthiness.
Definition: A public figure makes something look like a joke, even though it isn’t, for personal gain.
