Glenn Beck’s Show In UK Has Had Zero Ads Past Three Shows; Update: Now 16 Shows
If you’re not aware, Glenn Beck’s show airs in the United Kingdom. Accordingly, we have been targeting his sponsors in the United States as well as in the U.K. (with the assistance from the StopBeck – UK Effort).
During the last week and a half, Glenn Beck lost his 100th, 101st and 102nd sponsors [Update: 2/18/10: Since this post was originally posted, Glenn Beck lost an additional sponsors, bringing the new total of lost sponsors to 116.] [Update 2/22/10: 3 more dropped Glenn Beck. Total lost sponsors is now 119.]
A full list of all 102 116 119 sponsors that dropped Mr. Beck (or Fox News as a whole) can be found here. Please note that this total includes sponsors that have dropped him both United States and/or in the United Kingdom.
It seems like our efforts are having an effect…
Glenn Beck’s show in the United Kingdom has not run any commercials during the past three days (Tues-Thurs). Glenn Beck’s show in the UK used to run commercials. The shows that come on before and after Glenn Beck still run commercials. But, for the past three days, Mr. Beck hasn’t had any sponsors in the U.K. During the commercial break, instead of running ads, they cut away to Sky News updates or the weather. Perhaps they’re having trouble finding sponsors willing to subsidize Glenn Beck’s misinformation, vitriol, sexism and race-baiting?
This really is great news and testament to the continued participation in this effort by many.
Big thanks to all those participating. Keep it up! And, please spread the word and help grow this effort.

Impressive! I wonder if FOX would have to bombard us with more “Obama is a socialist” crap if advertisers refused to plug in Beck’s slots. Then again, I think they do “rotational” advertising on that network so it wouldn’t quite have the same effect. Anyway, go Brittania!

WTH? You guys are fascists. If you don’t agree with him, be vocal. Threatening people who just want to sell goods and services to get your way is vile and strikes me as reminiscient of Mussolini.

So, Scott – You support free speech for Beck, but not for people who choose to boycott his advertisers (while encouraging others to do the same)?
Gee, that seems kinda hypocritical.

Thanks to all StopBeckers…Your efforts are sincerely appreciated!

That’s a hilarious and typically ignorant response. I wasn’t aware
that Mussolini encouraged the Italian population to boycott private enterprise in order to achieve the fascist state. Gee, what a benign regime that must’ve been, contrary to all informed accounts. But you actually have no idea of what fascism is or even bolshevism (which I’m sure you must also trot out regularly). You just repeat these phrases because you’ve heard other people, who don’t know what they’re talking about, say them as well. And before you know it, there’s a whole population of mutually reinforcing buffoons who think they understand the complexities of historical phenomena simply because they can sling around some words that have a bad odor and apply them to whatever they find distasteful. Maybe just look something up in a dictionary, if you don’t have the patience to read a book. Here’s a typical definition of fascism:
An authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.
In general use: Extreme right-wing, authoritarian or intolerant views and practice.
The term fascism was first used in the right-wing nationalist regime of Mussolini and the regimes of the Nazi’s in Germany and Franco in Spain were also Fascist. Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one nationality or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach.
As you can easily see the Bush regime is a far better fit for the usual understanding of a fascist regime. It’s only in Alice in Wonderland where up is down and down is up that historical revisionsists like Jonah Goldberg can convince people who don’t know better and won’t check his facts that Fascism is some sort of lefty creation. Remember, millions of Russians died fighting fascism precisely because it wasn’t lefty, but a right-wing threat to leftist ideals. Of course, both Nazism and Soviet Communism were totalitarian, but that simply shows that enthusiasts on the right and the left a prone to excesses. So, in sum, it’s a democratic principle to protest what you don’t like and would like to change and it’s a democracy’s finest moment when the people do just that and the government has no say in it. If you want to buy the products of Beck’s sponsors, nobody is prohibiting you from doing so. That’s democracy: the freedom to choose. Welcome to America as Thomas Paine wanted it to be.

You need to re-read History, Mussolini was in bed with business interests and so was Hitler. Had it not been for financial support from German and Swiss Businesses, Hitler would still be sitting in a beer hall. He came to power not of his own money, but of the money of Krup, Damler, et al.
Ahhh… the Beck fascist argument. Are you saying that they shouldn’t have burned Dixie Chicks CD’s (or were you out there burning them?).
Pulling support from someone who you don’t agree with could have saved those Italians from Mussolini. Just like pulling advertisement from Glenn Beck may save us all from the fascism that you seem so concerned about. BTW – Hitler / Mussolini were not Liberals… Hitler put Liberals into concentration camps.

He doesn’t have many ads in the US either. Just lots of scam gold commercials.
First, you have no clue as the definition of “fascist”. Thanks for proving that.
Next, we are being vocal and sponsors are responding. Don’t you teabag hicks believe in democracy and capitalism? I guess when only teabag terrorist hicks are allowed to protest in your little pathetic world.
Scott, why threaten?
Why not just inform them of the bull that Beck spews and ask them if they really want to be assoicated with that?!
As for “fascists”. You’ll find those who oppose Beck generally want democracy, are more likely to be pro-choice, don’t want there to be one political party and don’t think corporations should be in control of society. – All of which are the opposite in ideology to fascism.
A grass-roots power-to-the-people effort to help corporations see that they are sponsoring lunatics who make baseless and divisive allegations, primarily on a network that has zero journalistic integrity, is far from fascist.
Please learn the meaning of the labels you throw around and learn that Mussolini’s actions and decisions lead to physical violence at the polls, voter intimidation, assassinations, etc. Also mussolini was a nationalist, pushed propaganda, opposed communism and had far more in common with Glen Beck that any of Beck’s detractors.
If you wish to throw that label at anyone, or compare anyone to Mussolini, you should be throwing it towards Beck, Fox News and the corporations that fund that steaming pile of propagnda.

The program in the UK should come with the following disclaimer: “Whilst true that there is a significant portion of the American populace foolish and racist enough to actually believe this man in no way should it be construed that the majority of Yanks are this stupid.” I’m sorry Murdoch’s Fox poison is not contained to this side of the pond.

Scott, you’re saying that “liberals are fascists” after openly supporting the right-wing genocide in Iraq that have killed one million people in the name of “Christ”, and you’re trying to wash the blood off your own hands. Saying that liberals are fascists is like saying the Jews carried out the Holocaust – it’s a big lie, that you are trying to repeat until it becomes “the truth”. Just so you won’t have to feel so guilty about being a fascist, while threatening to overthrow U.S. democracy. (Yeah, I’ve read the “Armed Revolution” PDF calling for a right-wing genocide of 70 million liberals.)
Does your jackboots fit, Scott?

So… if Beck is just an “entertainer”, one would think he’d be cancelled by now, because you can’t make a profit in that business without sponsors.
Which means no, he’s not an entertainer. He’s a propagandist supported by political interests.
Nice to have that highlighted.

Air America bit the dust WITH sponsors, I’m not worried about the Glen Beck show, he’s too popular and too accurate.

Glenn Beck is the greatest. ALl your people who think that he spewing hate, why not try listening to him instead of listening to the anti-truth people and then draw your own conlusions.

Beck does not need “sponsors”. His hidden real sponsor is the Right wing party acting on behalf of the fossil fuel industry, just like Fox, and Rush Limbaugh.

Wrong!
Glenn Beck speaks the truth and exposes the Obama administration for the Mao-and-Chavez-loving socialists they are!
You will fail.
Keep up the great work Glenn!

V said “Scott, you’re saying that “liberals are fascists” after openly supporting the right-wing genocide in Iraq that have killed one million people in the name of “Christ””
would you care to expound on that statement?
Are you accusing the United States of starting a war in the name of Jesus Christ?
If so, you are far more insane than Glenn Beck ever will be!

“President Bush said to all of us: ‘I am driven with a mission from God’. God would tell me, ‘George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan’. And I did. And then God would tell me ‘George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq’. And I did.” … “God is not neutral.”
“Insane”? No, speaking the truth. Compared to Glenn Beck, who wants Obama’s head on a plate, and all liberals put to the gas chambers.

“President George Bush has claimed he was told by God to invade Iraq and attack Osama bin Laden’s stronghold of Afghanistan as part of a divine mission to bring peace to the Middle East, security for Israel, and a state for the Palestinians.
The President made the assertion during his first meeting with Palestinian leaders in June 2003, according to a BBC series which will be broadcast this month.”
Also:
He told Bob Woodward – whose 2004 book, Plan of Attack, is the definitive account of the administration’s road to war in Iraq – that after giving the order to invade in March 2003, he walked in the White House garden, praying “that our troops be safe, be protected by the Almighty”. As he went into this critical period, he told Mr Woodward, “I was praying for strength to do the Lord’s will.
“I’m surely not going to justify war based upon God. Understand that. Nevertheless, in my case, I pray that I will be as good a messenger of His will as possible. And then of course, I pray for forgiveness.”
Another telling sign of Mr Bush’s religion was his answer to Mr Woodward’s question on whether he had asked his father – the former president who refused to launch a full-scale invasion of Iraq after driving Saddam Hussein from Kuwait in 1991 – for advice on what to do.
The current President replied that his earthly father was “the wrong father to appeal to for advice … there is a higher father that I appeal to”.

“you folks remind me of the Brownshirt Nazis from WWII. Censur all speech that you disagree with. Exterminate the opposition to you beliefs.”
No, that would be Glenn Beck openly calling for murdering liberals on the streets of America at his CPAC speech. Try again, *you* Nazi lover.
“Hope the biblical final plague against the Egyptians applies to you.”
*You* censure all speech that you disagree with. *You* want to exterminate the opposition to your beliefs. Hey, if the jackboot fits, Joel.

I am so proud and impressed that there is a website like this that actively encourages people to get involved in the shaping of our future. We’ve realized that Governments don’t have the power to change everything, and are thus entreating the organizations that have more real power, the corporations.
I am not for banning Glenn Beck’s free speech; everyone has a right to free speech. Nor am I against his ability to do a job. What I am for, is consequences and accountability.
Hopefully Glenn Beck will recant his ways, and help contribute to a better society.

Glenn Beck is one of the most fucked up people I’ve ever seen. Take him out of his suit, put him under a bridge with a bottle, and he’d fit right in there as well. His potato has definitely baked way too long.

For the first time in the history of fox, they are actually showing NEWS on their station. they are forced to show NEWS instead of commercials, the very same commercials that would make fox a profitable business.
This is VERY, VERY Funny!!
