How To Participate In And Support The StopBeck Effort
Thanks for your interest in the StopBeck effort!
Tweets and emails to sponsors do matter as evinced by Glenn Beck’s continued loss of advertisers: Glenn Beck has lost well over 100 advertisers. Also, the broadcast of his show in the U.K. has been running without any commercials since February 9 – almost 2 months now.
This effort is powered by people and persistence. Accordingly, we need help holding the line against Fox News as well as help growing. Here are some ways you can participate in the StopBeck effort…
#1) Help Pressure Remaining Sponsors
- On Twitter: watch out for tweets to Glenn Beck’s sponsors. You can help by re-tweeting them or sending those sponsors tweets of your own. [Note: When RTing messages to sponsors, please use the copy & paste method instead of the RT button. Believe it or not, this makes a real difference.]
- Sometimes remaining sponsors need a bit more of a nudge than tweets provide. So, keep an eye on this site or Twitter for announcements.
#2) Spread The Word
- Tell your friends, Twitter followers and Facebook friends about our StopBeck effort. Always let them know they can find more info at StopBeck.com, on Twitter @StopBeck or on Facebook.
- If you have a blog: add StopBeck.com to your blogroll. Or, if you feel like getting fancy, add a StopBeck badge to your site (see sidebar).
- If you see a blog post that fails to mention Glenn Beck’s lost sponsors even though it is relevant to the topic of the post: leave a comment about his lost sponsors and point them to http://stopbeck.com [Note: This is crucial to spreading the word about our effort. But, I am not asking you to spam the blogosphere. Please make sure the comment is relevant. Spreading the word about his lost sponsors helps improve the comment thread on that site - and it also helps our effort.]
#3) Consider Offering A Small Donation
- Your donation will be used to help defray some of the costs of this effort so far, pay for ongoing administrative expenses and lay the groundwork for expansion. It would be greatly appreciated. You can donate securely by clicking this link or the “chip in” widget in the sidebar.
- Update 4/2/10: Aside from server upgrade, I’m also raising funds to pick up a used computer. Ideally, I’m looking for a mac mini. If you know anyone selling a cheap one, please get in touch. (Preference is for a mac mini, because I have an external monitor already. But, if you know someone selling a cheap iMac that’ll work too.) Why do I need this? Because I need to record audio, video and do other side projects on a non-laptop (Also, I need my current laptop for school sometimes). This certainly becomes more pressing as our StopRush and other efforts picks up steam.

Glen Beck needs to be responsible for his lies and hate he spreads to people who only watch fox and never hear another side of his nonsense, and the hate from the whole fox team!! Rupert Murdock owns the media around the world and took full advantage of the ending of the fairness act to grow his evil empire into tons of money for his hate media and push the one sided fox agenda!! I listened to the Bill Press Show on Glenn Beck (7-1-2010) and appreciated all the exposure to what Beck is saying and doing. I actually don't believe Beck “believes” what he is saying as I don't give him that much credence. I equate Glenn Beck as a con man, a man who says whatever works to separate 'fools from their money'. Thus, lying is very important to serve that purpose. If you look at Beck strictly in reference to what is profitable for him, you will now know the person quite well and will understand his motives and actions. He knows his audience and knows how to gain their loyalty and money. It's sad to admit that there are so many people who listen with their emotions and not their head, so they can easily be steered down the wrong path based on lies. If you love truth, you would not abide a minute of time with Glenn Beck and his friends.

I am a very dedicated AMERICAN who loves the Constitution of the United States, exactly as it is written and believe in freedom over government oppression. It's not real difficult folks!!…If you really listened to Glenn, REALLY listened and looked at your kids then back at yourself in the mirror you would be so opposed to what this website imposes.

Yes and he is going to be in big trouble because of his association with Goldline International, the company he recommends. They are being investigated by Congress for ripping off the public by overcharging for gold coins. Beck is probabaly laughing all the way to the bank, along with Laura Ingraham who has also been touting Goldline. It's all about fleecing the innocent sheep.

I have been into Barnes and Noble twice and made 4 calls and 2 e mails. I want them to take Beck's books away from the information /reference desk. I told the manager “you can point them out on a shelf but you do not have to recommend them by this special display at the reference desk.” I wrote to their corporate headquarters and asked “how much money is the publisher paying you to put those books at the reference desk”.

It would be useful to have a consolidated list of all the factual errors he makes. While he is an idiot, dangerous and takes things wildly out of context, those things are hard to use to convince devotees he is bad. Nonpartisan errors are much easier to use, but I know of no consolidated list of them. Factcheck has some, but I am pretty sure not all. Things like “no other country has automatic birth citzenship” and “Less than 10 percent of Obama's Cabinet appointees have any experience in the private sector” are demonstratively false statements.
