Last week, Holiday Inn advertisements began running on Glenn Beck’s show. As with other advertisers, participants in the StopBeck effort sprang to action. We informed Holiday Inn that this is not about politics, but about Glenn Beck’s reckless vitriol, sexism and preying on racial anxieties. We kindly requested that they follow the responsible action of well over 100 other former advertisers and remove their ads from Glenn Beck’s show.

Well, your efforts paid off!  Holiday Inn has joined the growing list of companies that refuse to advertise on Glenn Beck’s show.

A spokesperson for Holiday Inn emailed this statement to the StopBeck effort this morning (emphasis added):

As a follow up to your previous note, I wanted to let you know that the choice of programming for Holiday Inn commercials is a result of our national cable buy. This is an attempt to reach a larger and more diverse audience and is unrelated to the content of the news reporting. However, we have taken this matter under consideration due to the fact that some of the content on this show could be deemed objectionable, and have requested to avoid airing our advertising during this program in the future. Holiday Inn respects your opinions and appreciates you sharing them.

Great work all!

Many thanks to all those participating in this media accountability effort.  Your tweets and emails do matter.

Onward we go…
