Statement On 828 Counter Protests
Over the past few weeks, we’ve gotten a lot of questions about whether StopBeck effort is organizing any counter protests to Glenn Beck’s 828 rally.
Here is the StopBeck effort’s statement on the issue:
The StopBeck effort is not organizing or endorsing any counter protests. Glenn Beck’s 828 event is a contemptible stunt to initiate the launch of his new book. On August 28, instead of thinking about Glenn Beck, we’ll be honoring the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr. by celebrating his dream and reflecting on the work ahead.
This statement isn’t intended to be a slight against those that are curious about the event and want to go to report on it. It just represents our official position on counter protests.

I think this is a mature approach and I applaud your insight. I was seven years old when Dr. King made that speech and it made quite an impression on me. I would much prefer to reflect on the significance of this anniversary than give any sense of importance to the rodeo clown turn prophet. I will spend each and every day trying to combat this and all the other morons on the right, but for one day I wish to indulge my sense of spirit and remember the man who gave his life to advance our civilization.

But if you think about it another way with Glenn Beck going there to honor Martin Luther King and black people, Obama should publicly thank him prior to the event and tell him how wonderful it is that he is honoring black people as well as Obama. I wonder how many people would come after that
