Last night, conservatives converged in Illinois at the Right Nation 2010 Convention. I lived tweeted most of it. It was mostly unremarkable, but if you’re really interested feel free to check my twitter stream.
About halfway through Mr. Beck’s speech, the live video feed was shut down – so the live tweeting ended at this point. I contacted the feed’s purveyor asking for confirmation of reports that the feed was shut down at the behest of Glenn Beck’s team, but they have not replied to requests for information.
After the video feed was shut down, Mr. Beck propagated his typical vitriolic nonsense. He also mocked Michelle Obama for…gasp…praising healthy eating! Zomg! Red, Marxist, Communist, Maoist healthy eating!
On September 13, Michelle Obama addressed the National Restaurant Association’s Board of Directors. She praised the industry’s positive developments and also called on the industry to continue improving children’s options, saying:
“You could make healthy sides like apple slices or carrots the default choice in a menu and make fries something customers have to request – which would hurt me deeply. I’m a fry lover.”
Well, Glenn Beck didn’t like this. So, he offered up some choice words for Mrs. Obama. At Right Nation, Beck criticized this nonexistent government takeover of french fries, saying:
“Get away from my french fries, Mrs. Obama. First politician that comes up to me with a carrot stick, I’ve got a place for it. And it’s not in my tummy.”
Of note, this isn’t the first time that Glenn Beck has taken aim at Michelle Obama. Back in February, Glenn Beck falsely accussed Michelle Obama of calling her children “fatties.”
Just imagine Glenn’s reaction if Mrs. Obama went after Mountain Dew and Cheetos instead of french fries. Yeesh.
Update: Here’s the video…
